Traditional Tonga Winnowing Basket
Artistically accenting with single-use plastic bags that would otherwise be discarded, skilled Batonga women in the Pemba and Monze districts of Zambia's Southern Plateau add graphic motifs to their baskets made from locally harvested palm leaves and wild twigs. Baskets will be similar to the photos shown, but there will be some variation due to the handmade nature of this item.
Winnowing baskets make a stunning wall display, and the sturdy baskets can also be used traditionally for harvesting and carrying.
Measures approximately 24 inches in diameter.
